Moray West commenced inter-array cable (IAC) installation, connecting the wind turbine locations to the offshore substations.
The project leverages a strong team of UK-based specialists. Seaway7, managing the entire scope from their Aberdeen office, utilises their advanced cable laying vessel, Seaway Aimery, for efficient IAC installation. This involvement fosters the growth of a skilled workforce within the region, meeting the industry's growing needs.
Moray West prioritises UK suppliers and manufacturers. JDR Cable Systems, based in Hartlepool, is providing all the IAC cables. Helix Energy Solutions Group, with their Aberdeen office, is responsible for cable trenching. Balmoral Comtec, another Aberdeen company, supplies the cable protection systems.
With over 120 kilometres of IACs to be installed, Seaway7's dedicated teams are expected to complete the first phase in Q2/Q3 of 2024, paving the way for the project's first power generation.
